Day 2 - You have a good Good.

"I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” - Jeremiah 31:3

Sometimes people imagine God as cruel or angry, or even selfish and demanding, but that’s not what God is like at all. Our God is a smiling God! He is gracious and compassionate-slow to anger and rich in love (Psalm 145:8-9). God reveals His goodness all throughout scripture, but if we really want to know about God’s character, there is no better place to look than at the life and teaching of Jesus Christ. Jesus came to Earth as Emmanuel (God WITH us… God in a human body) and Jesus reveals God’s nature.

Jesus was not cruel, He was kind (Matt 5:38-39)

Jesus was not angry, He was patient (Luke 22:32-34)

Jesus was not unapproachable, He was always available (Mark 5:21-24)

Jesus was not unmerciful - He was FULL of compassion (Matt 20:29-34)

Jesus was not arrogant or narcissistic, He was humble (Luke 22:27)

Jesus was not full of judgement - He befriended sinners (Matt 9:10-12)

Jesus was not a bully - He was bullied and loved in return (Matt 26:67)

Jesus was not selfish - He sacrificed Himself, giving up His rights (2 Cor 8:9)

Jesus was not demanding, He taught and demonstrated love (John 15:12)

This is your God - He is a GOOD God!

The next time someone tries to tell you that God isn’t good, tell them to read their Bible! God has always been good, always seeking the very best for those who belong to Him (Romans 8:28).

Prayer - “God, help me to understand more about you. I believe that you are a GOOD God, but help me to experience your goodness daily. Lord, I receive the gift of love and acceptance that you have offered to me, and in return I will give you my life. Help me follow you into the life I have been created for. Amen
